Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Officers reported they were contacted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A senior political figure commented the attack left him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
